Physical inactivity itself is considered a disease. which affects children and adds up to the numbers related to childhood obesity.
Air pollution is a major cause for many respiratory diseases like cities Delhi, India. The soot from the neighboring states pollutes the city greatly and many a time schools are closed. Parks and centers of physical activity remain closed. The general public always wear face masks.
Pollutant parameters (PM10, PM 2.5, SO2, NO2, O3, CO and NH3) have been analyzed individually and as an integrated index during-lockdown period and compared with the result of the same for pre-lock down period. There seemed to be an overall improvement in the quality of air in the megacity Delhi.
The choice whether to indulge in physical activity in polluted cities remain with the city administration. During COVID 19 lockdown children and family remain indoors. In general, lockdown has improved the environment and brought down considerably air pollution. Therefore, family may be instructed by the Physical activists what sort of physical activity can be practised indoors and how the children can be motivated to improve their habit of exercise. Parents can restrict the use of mobile phone and limit the time spent by the children in front of the television.
